For those among us who make Bozeman our year-round home, you’re likely well familiar with the spots on our city guide. When we’re hankering for a change of pace, we know it’s time for a weekend getaway to Paradise Valley. We asked Haley and her good friend Ashley Hertz, Owner of Onyx Studio (and Park County Native) to create a guide to their ideal long weekend in an around Livingston, Montana.
Where to Stay
The Brick House in Livingston – A designer Victorian Mansion that sleeps 8. We did a long weekend here for Haley’s sister’s 40th. One night we dressed up in 80s rodeo nostalgia — let’s just say, this house had a lot of Garth Brooks reverberate through its walls.
The kitchen at Brick House. Pancakes and Garth Brooks optional, but recommended.
To Start Your Morning (Coffee & Pastries)
Coffee Crossing — A perfect place to start the morning with a cup of joe and light bite.
Campione — One word: brunch. The poached eggs with chili butter are *chef’s kiss.*
A Campione spread.
To End Your Day
Follow Yer Nose BBQ — Fabulous barbecue, ice cold beer, near the entrance to Yellowstone. Very kid friendly, where you can catch live music most nights. While the Paradise Valley/Emigrant location is only open in summer, you can visit the Gardiner smoke wagon year-round.
For Groceries and Other Treats
Foodworks — The best gluten-free baked goodies like empanadas and pot pies. Worth taking some back with you in a cooler.
Livingston Farmer’s Market — Wednesday afternoons through late fall. Live music, great vendors (we love the taco truck) and, of course, epic Montana produce. Kid-friendly.
Woods Rose Market — Garden bliss with a great houseplant collection, flower pots, etc., as well as organic groceries and local meat
What to Do
Soak at the classic Chico Hot Springs or Yellowstone Hot Springs
Catch a show at the Old Saloon or Pine Creek Lodge
Play in the Yellowstone River
Nothing delights us more than when Chico Hot Springs Resort comes into view.
Where to Shop
Lu Dale – A “secret underground vintage shop” that we not-so-secretly recommend to everyone we know. Fabulous eye and taste.
Cactus Blossom Collective — We love what happens when women come together. The Cactus Blossom is run and used by a handful of women creatives and artists. It’s both a thoughtfully curated retail shop and collaborative maker’s space — one of those community spaces that remind us why we love living in Montana so much.
The Kitchen Shop — Just like the name implies, amazing kitchen supplies. Great for taking some souvenirs home (along with those frozen pot pies from Foodworks)
